LNIB Health News
Flu season is fast approaching. Last year the flu season was very mild because so many people were in lockdown and/or prractising COVID safety protocols. The public health officers are concerned that this year flu will again make its presence in our communities because people are out and about much more. The best way to protect yourself from flu is to get a flu vaccine. The Health Centre will be conducting vaccine clinics as and when the vaccines are shipped to us. Vaccinations are available by appointment only – if you want to get a vaccine, please phone the Health Centre to get on the list. 250-378-4089 , the appoint booking times for the flu shots will start next Wednesday (Nov 17-19) from 10am to 2pm Then 10am – 2pm every week (from Mon-Friday) till end of November.
The BC Public Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, and Health Canada have indicated that it is wise to get a booster shot of the COVID vaccine to further protect from COVID and the new variants appearing. Booster shots are being phased in with those who are Elders 70+ and those who are immune comprised getting the boosters first. Again, this is by appointment – if you wish to get a COVID booster shot (highly recommended) please call the Health Centre to register. If you have any questions, please contact one of our nurses Irene Howe or Terri Stockwell.”
