Please find the updated Chinook and Pink fishing license attached. The Nlaka’pamux waters are still open for Chinook and Pink with Dipnet and Rod and reel until Sept 22 at 6PM. Incidentally caught sockeye may still be retained because most are still from the Summer run stocks, which are coming back in big enough numbers to support limited harvest. Chinook Gillnets (8 inch mesh) are now only licensed in the Thompson River between Big Horn and Bonaparte, and incidentally caught Pink and sockeye may be retained.
Today is the first day of the Interior Fraser Coho window closure in the Nlaka’pamux area of the Fraser mainstem. To help protect these Coho as the migrate through, only selective gear like rod and reel and dipnets can be licensed. This is so that non-target species, including Coho, Steelhead and Sturgeon can be successfully released. Even using bait at this time of year could make successfully releasing any Coho harder. The Coho window closure begins in the Thompson River on Sept 23.
